WHERE'S JOE McCARTHY WHEN WE NEED HIS GUTS TO DO AN UNPOPULAR JOB? (LINK)

July 9th 2008 22:55
Steven Barrett

A few posts ago I mentioned how the late Senator Joseph McCarthy's methods made it unpopularly difficult to take a firm and public stand against any Red influence behind a certain situation of move against the United States during the heights of the Cold War.

I simply lost count how many times the term "McCarthyism" was thrown back in my face for even having the "nerve ... gall ... impertinence" and something else I can't repeat here (though I wasn't ashamed in the least for having them) to challenge the ever noble Communists in Cuba or Sandinistas in Nicaragua. Hell, even to mention the factual truth that the Ortega Brothers were indeed tutored by their buddy Fidel was enough to earn me a Central American jungle rainforest's worth of a downpour of "McCarthyite" or "McCarthyism" shrieks, howls and cat-spats from usually very genteel and ever so suave folks with enough pedigrees to start their own university. And I'm only speaking of my encounters with then members of the Amherst (MA) Town Democratic Committee.

This was good -- excuse me -- for what was to follow years later after our Red friends were sent packing and our new ideological sparring partners, the Wahabis felt we needed some company. (Funny, we weren't exactly miserable when the Communist Empire fell, but I guess the Wahabis felt we were miserable enough to merit new company: them. And the Wahabis are experts in making people they don't like very miserable.)

Oliver Cromwell and even the old gray boyos running the Red empire have nothing on the Wahabis when it comes to bullying people both Muslims and non-Muslims into falling in line with what they believe is what THE Prophet demands of us: every damn one of us. Even the Reds weren't quite this comprehensive in their outlook. And even the Saudi Royal family, whose very existence in power depends on a historical fact they'd love to walk away from: They owe the Wahabis their throne due to a deal they made many years ago. Wahabism became THE official interpretation of Islam in the land of Mohammed, and so long as the Saudi tribe which later became the governing tribe of the world's greatest oil reserves, made sure the Wahabi clerics controlled Mecca -- all would be fine.

Building a new capital city in the middle of the Arabian peninsula wasn't exactly what most people would do when they could choose to live on the cooler coasts, near the holy cities and let the roughnecks take the more painful locales. They wanted away from their Islamic Roundheads so badly that the center of hell itself seemed definitely more preferable.

As we've seen lately, the Islamic fundamentalists, the Desert Roundheads of Islam are becoming very, and I mean very adept at getting the United Nations and courts across the globe to cave into the demands of Islamic Sharia law. I'm not going to delve into its more notable excesses, especially insofar as punishments are concerned. No, I have something better, the prudent warnings of a man who knows the dangers of Sharia inside and out; Frank Gaffney, Jr., a former Reagan Defense Dept. official.

In March, the 57 Muslim-state Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) prevailed upon the United Nations Human Rights Council to adopt a resolution requiring the effective evisceration of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Henceforth, the guaranteed right of free expression will not extend to any criticism of Islam, on the grounds that it amounts to an abusive act of religious discrimination.

A UN Special Rapporteur on Freedom of Expression has been charged with documenting instances in which individuals and media organizations engage in what the Islamists call "Islamophobia."

"Rapporteur"? Shouldn't that have been ranconteur? That's exactly what's going to happen as people are ratted on by raconteurs and other bull---t artists working on behalf of The Prophet. And get this ... your's truly could get his butt put in a tight spot for just having written and published this cravenly cowardly legal appeasement -- even from the United States of America with its First Amendment Rights. (Given the makeup of our State Department, whom a new McCarthy would be having a field day with, I know damn well I could be in jeopardy the moment I ever landed in Europe, much less the Middle East, save for Israel.)

When I think of all the work Eleanor Roosevelt put into the creation of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and look at the steady caving in to the demands of the most unreasonable, unfathomable and implacable theocratic bullies the world has seen -- perhaps even worse than both Nazis and Reds put together, damn, it sure -- in the words of singer Merle Haggard -- gets "on the fighting side of me."

And it ought to get on the "fighting side" of every freedom loving person in the world, no matter what faith he or she follows. Not alarmed enough yet? Read more of what Gaffney had so say in "Islamists have the West just where they want us" (Jewish World Review, July 8, 2008):

A UN Special Rapporteur on Freedom of Expression has been charged with documenting instances in which individuals and media organizations engage in what the Islamists call "Islamophobia."

Not to be outdone, the OIC has its own "ten-year program of action" which will monitor closely all Islamophobic incidents and defamatory statements around the world.

• Monitoring is just the first step. Jordan's Prosecutor General has recently brought charges against Dutch Parliamentarian Geert Wilders. According to a lawsuit, "Fitna" — Wilders' short documentary film that ties certain Koranic passages to Islamist terrorism — is said to have slandered and insulted the Prophet Mohammed, demeaned Islam and offended the feelings of Muslims in violation of the Jordanian penal code. Mr. Wilders has been summoned to Amman to stand trial and, if he fails to appear voluntarily, international warrants for his arrest will be issued.

Zakaria Al-Sheikh, head of the "Messenger of Allah Unites Us Campaign" which is the plaintiff in the Jordanian suit, reportedly has "confirmed that the [prosecutor's action] is the first step towards setting in place an international law criminalizing anyone who insults Islam and the Prophet Mohammed."

If Joe McCarthy scared the hell out of liberals -- and only those liberals who got too chummy with the Reds and very sympathetic Pinks had reason to worry -- but this bullying Robespierre of the so-called "Messenger of Allah Unites Us Campaign" makes McCarthy look like a piker.

Let's be clear: The Islamists are trying to establish a kind of Catch-22: If you point out that they seek to impose a barbaric, repressive and seditious Shariah Law, you are insulting their faith and engaging in unwarranted, racist and bigoted fear-mongering.
Don't take my word: take Gaffney's: He's been at this a lot longer than most people in Washington or anywhere else. He's not raising alarm bells about dictators abroad because it brings him great ratings for his columns. He's putting his life at risk by SHOWING us just how easily our freedoms are being pulled right out from under our feet -- and through legal means. And if that doesn't frighten anyone enough to demand action their Congressional delegations to clean house at State, etc. -- I don't what or who else will get the message across. Even the Reds couldn't have dreamed up this kind of scheme under Stalin, no less.

On the other hand, pursuant to Shariah, you must submit to that theo-political-legal program. If you don't, you can legitimately be killed. It is not an irrational fear to find that prospect unappealing. And it is not racist or bigoted to decry and oppose Islamist efforts to bring it about — ask the anti-Islamist Muslims who are frequently accused of being Islamophobes!

If we go along with our enemies' demands to criminalize Islamophobia, we will mutate Western laws, traditions, values and societies beyond recognition. Ultimately, today's totalitarian ideologues will triumph where their predecessors were defeated.

I'D LIKE TO CLARIFY SOMETHING HERE: I'M NOT OUT TO ATTACK THE MUSLIM FAITH, NOR EVEN MOHAMMED. WHAT BOTHERS ME MOST IS THIS EXCEPTIONALLY RIGID AND INTRUSIVE PROJECTION OF ANOTHER SYSTEM OF LAW, BASED ON THEOCRATIC PRINCIPLES IN WAYS THAT VIOLATE BOTH THE LETTER AND SPI RIT OF OUR CONSTITUTIONAL GUARANTEES -- THAT APPLY TO ALL OF US, BE THEY MUSLIM, CHRISTIAN, JEWISH, BUDDHIST, HINDU, WICCAN, SHINTOIST, AGNOSTIC OR ATHEIST.

IF CATHOLICS -- WHOSE LEADER, POPE BENEDICT XVI, IS ALSO A SOVEREIGN HEAD OF STATE -- ARE CAREFUL SO AS TO NOT ALLOW THEIR CANON LAWS INTERFERE WITH THE LAWS OF BOTH OUR FEDERAL AND STATE SYSTEM(S) OF LAWS, IT MAKES ABSOLUTELY NO SENSE WHATSOEVER FOR ANY AMERICAN TO ALLOW THIS SHARIA TO BE IMPOSED UPON FREE PEOPLE IN A FREE NATION.

The scary thing, Steven, is that we have the politicians lined up to befirend the Islamists and support Shariah Law. Canada had already allowed some domestic matters to be settled by Shariah Law instead of Canadian Law. We have buffoons in our own government who don't have a problem with illegals from anywhere getting amnesty and protection in the "sanctuary cities". It makes me wonder how many of those illegals come from the Middle East and what they're here for. It's probably not for the benefit of their families or to work for a living.

We're being infiltrated left and right (pun intended) and nobody seems willing to stand up as the new Tailgunner Joe to stop it. Have you ever read Plancks Constant? Google it and be amazed!

S.L. -- Thanks. I'll do that later if I can squeeze in the time, now that I'm starting up another (albeit completely non politcal blog) and trying to get that up and cranking.

If you'll notice, I had to put in a quick clarification at the bottom of this posting upon giving it a second thought. Sad I should have to even make this kind of a clarification since I would've never given a second's thought to harming any Muslim or the Muslim faith. My beef and I'm sure your beef is with the imposition of a very arbitrary and rigid legal code that supersedes even the most draconian laws we have on our own books. I wouldn't wish that on a Muslim or anyone. And for sure many moderate Muslims don't want this form of theocratic control.

I lived in Morocco as a young boy and have always carried with me nothing but pleasant memories. So my views have nothing to do with Modern Islam, but this Wahabist off-shoot that's sadly starting to become a much more wide-spreading force to reckon with.
