How many of you registered Democrats are sick and tired of not being listened to because you don't have a Ph.D, MA, support Planned Parenthood, the National Abortion Rights Action League; believe we have to kowtow to the gurus of wide-open free trade, and want our kids to get a basic education that's not guided by over-educated fools thinking schooling should be more about creating "fun" and "feeling good" at the end each class?
How many of you are tired of having your patriotism ridiculed by snotty and overtly anti-American pundits, and professors more in tune with the ambiguities of French and Euro-diplomacy instead of what constitutes what's best for OUR interests?
How many of you are tired of being scolded for "bigotry" and "narrowmindedness" on your part for sticking up for your religious and moral beliefs?
Just how many of you are sick and tired of seeing more breaks given to big businesses and non-profits while the middle class have to go begging for every morsel the elite see fit to flick off their tables for the rest of us to scramble for?
JUST HOW MANY OF YOU ARE FOR A LOT MORE DISAMBIGUITY AND MORE CLARITY WHEN IT COMES TO THE WAY POLITICS IS CONDUCTED IN THIS COUNTRY?
I DARESAY MOST AMERICANS ARE NOT DISINTERESTED AND INTELLECTUALLY LAZY PEOPLE WHO'VE TRADED THEIR GENUINE CONCERN FOR WHAT HAPPENS TO THEIR FAMILIES AND COMMUNITIES FOR THE SOFT SLOTH OF THE TUBE.
AND I DARESAY MOST AMERICANS AREN'T READY TO ACCEPT PRIVATIZATION OF THEIR JOBS AND PENSIONS BY EITHER CONSERVATIVE REPUBLICANS OR (WORSE, THROUGH STEALTH BY FISCALLY CONSERVATIVE/MORALLY LIBERAL "DEMOCRATS" WHO ARE SELLING OUT THE WORKING CLASS JOB-BY-JOB!)
HOW MANY RURAL DEMOCRATS ARE SICK AND TIRED OF SEEING THEIR URBAN COUNTERPARTS SELLING THEIR INTERESTS OUT TO THE SPECIAL INTERESTS IN ENERGY RELATED AND AGRI-BUSINESSES?)
HOW MANY DEMOCRATS WOULD LOVE TO SEE A VIBRANT DEFENSE INDUSTRY THAT ONLY USED AMERICAN MADE PRODUCTS FOR AMERICAN SERVICE MEN AND WOMEN? WHOSE NATION IS THIS, ANYWAY?
GETTING BACK TO ABORTION, WHICH I LEFT AFTER MENTIONING PLANNED PARENTHOOD AND NARAL: HOW MANY DEMOCRATS WHO DON'T SUPPORT ABORTION RIGHTS WOULD LOVE TO WATCH THEIR PARTY LEAVE ABORTION OUT OF THE PARTY'S PLATFORM AND SPARE US THE INDIGNITY OF WATCHING ANOTHER FARCE LIKE THIS YEAR'S CONVENTION TO BE HELD IN DENVER LATER THIS SUMMER -- NOT TO MENTION THE RITUAL HUMILIATION PRO-LIFE VOTERS SUFFER AT THE HANDS OF THE GUARDIANS OF PLUNDER AND PROMISE-BREAKING?
LOOK -- LET'S MAKE THIS A REAL DEMOCRATIC PARTY AND FORBID ABORTION TO BE A PART OF THE EQUATION. NO PROMISES OF LITMUS TESTS OR NO LITMUS TESTS CONCERNING THE SUPREME COURT. AFTER ALL, HARRY BLACKMUN AND LEWIS POWELL WEREN'T SUSPECTED BY NIXON TO BE PRO-ABORTION AND LOOK WHAT THEY GAVE US? MILLIONS OF DEAD CHILDREN!
AND IF WE DEMOCRATS WANT TO AVOID THE GUTTING OF SOCIAL SECURITY AND MEDICAID, NOT TO MENTION BE ABLE TO CREATE A NATIONAL HEALTH CARE SYSTEM -- WE'D DAMNED WELL AVOID ABORTION ALTOGETHER EXCEPT TO MAKE SURE IT DOESN'T APPEAR IN THE LEGISLATION. WE SIMPLY DECIDE NOT TO LET FESTER AND LINGER LIKE THE EXTREMIST LIBERALS AND/OR THE WHOLLY INEFFECTIVE POLITICAL PROLIFE LOBBIES INTERFERE WITH GETTING THE JOB DONE. WATCH AND YOU'LL SEE MOUNTAINS MOVE LIKE THEY NEVER HAVE BEFORE!

THAT'S WHAT ANDREW JACKSON, WM. JENNINGS BRYAN, EVEN FDR ("A TRAITOR TO HIS CLASS"), HARRY TRUMAN AND LBJ WOULD SAY.
JUST TAKE A LOOK AT THAT LIST FOR A SECOND: WITH THE EXCEPTION OF FDR (HARVARD AND DUTCH YANKEE WEALTH), WHAT DID THE REST OF THOSE MEN HAVE IN COMMON?
NOT ONE OF THE REMAINDER CAME FROM THE ELITIST RANKS OR "BEST COLLEGES." YET ROOSEVELT WAS CONSIDERED A "TRAITOR TO HIS CLASS."
I'd like to leave this posting with a sampling of some excellent "Democratic Thinking" to ponder. It's only a little sampling, but they might help give some encouragement to other Democrats who might be thinking along the same lines.

Let's start out with William Jennings Bryan who, short of FDR, gave the BEST speeches ever given by a Democrat.
"I think this is just too close to infanticide. A child has been born and it has exited the uterus. What on Earth is this procedure?" Earlier in his career in the Senate, Moynihan had expressed his annoyance with the adamantly pro-choice interest groups petitioning him and others on the issue. Having behind us the commercial interests and the laboring interests and all the toiling masses, we shall answer their demands for a gold standard by saying to them, you shall not press down upon the brow of labor this crown of thorns. You shall not crucify mankind upon a cross of gold.

Thanks anyway. So far I haven't heard of any "growndswell/mass movement" on behalf of anyone seeking to bring some sanity back to the oldest political party in the world. Right now it's suffereing from an advanced case of untreated senility run amok.
