YAO MING, CHINA'S TRUE GIANT OF A MAN: But a man NOT a machine.

August 12th 2008 03:39
By Steven Barrett

Despite all the sweet talk coming from China and its supporters here, (and by that, I don't mean somebody who writes an occasional column or feature saying something good about its advance into a more democratic form of civilization) -- China's commufascist form of government still uses people like machines.

So many of the things we buy in our big box retail outlets are made by convict slave labor toiling for sham companies owned by the People's Army which uses its profits to fatten its budgets.

China's atheles have been used in similar fashion when you think about it. Take away the superstardom, the accolades, the publicity and all the other razzmatazz, and what you'll see are broken human beings. They are used up, burnt out and are forced to perform far longer than most bodies can handle.

Why? The Party that puts on the same happy face of the "new and improved China" is still the same old Party that gunned down college kids in Beijing in 1989 and shows no compassion for even its greatest ambassador of goodwill in the Olympics: None other than her own giant of a man, Yao Ming.

Take a look at this story I found on Yahoo a few minutes ago. It's a heartbreaker.

China has no concept of human rights, not for their celebrities, nor their citizens nor their unborn. Their policies are a disgrace and we in the West are letting them get away with murder, literally. The bad joke that the UN has become isn't likely to do anything about it, are they Steven?

Thanks, S.L.

TimmyH, Did you read the Yahoo piece? Geesh, if I was 7.6 and had to ride in the cattle car section of already overcrowded airplanes, I think I'd have more than a bad day or two, even in my "own house."

Men at that size age A LOT faster than most men and to have to endure such a grueling schedule and retinue just to keep the lazy, fat and pampered mandarins in Beijing content with victories they have no rights to bask in -- well, this is just plain criminal. It's a violation of this man's and his teamates human rights.
