Next Attack? It's Happening Now!
June 17th 2008 16:56
Much ado is being made about the recent Supreme Court's 5-4 rebuking President Bush for one of his few intelligent moves, the detaining of foreign nationals at Guantanamo Bay for suspected terrorist activities against this country. Though I disagree with the decision, I'm not exactly sure if any responsible judge would allow any of these hard-cores out on bail knowing full well what'd they be up to next. The recent outbreak out of Taliban soldiers in Afghanistan should deter any wooly-headed thinking by any federal judge.
Still, when you see what our Saudi "friends" are up to and get away with, no thanks to our very strongly pro-Arabist State Department, which has even lately come down on the side of a Wahabhist (excuse me, an officially Saudi-run) academy in Alexandria, VA, not to mention turn its blind eye to the virulent hate machines masquerading as religious schools "madrassas") in Saudi Arabia itself, you can't help wondering what's going on.
The school in question is the so-called "Saudi Academy."
Doesn't this seem a bit odd here: a foreign-run academy operating on American soil gets away with promoting hatred of Jews, in particular, while at the same time any American who utters even the least offensive "politically incorrect" statement is held up for instant ridicule and scorn. Whose country is this? The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors wants to shut the place down. But not our State Department?
Let's go back a bit, many decades back a bit: For years the State Department has been a hive of anti-Semites and a close-knit group of pro-Arabists, many of whom graduated from super-elite colleges such as Amherst and Williams: both of which also have deep historical ties to the famous American College in Beirut. (Ever notice that terrorists never use that place as a shield like they did with the Franciscan's church over the spot of Jesus' birth in Bethlehem? What a coincidence.
Take a hard look at two columns written by Frank Gaffney and Cal Thomas. Gaffney's column, "Foe, not friend" appeared in World Jewish Review; Thomas' " The Next Attack: Coming Soon" in Townhall.com, respectively. Both columnists are alarmed with State's backing of the Saudis on this school, not to mention the Court's decision in a time of war, no less.
The biggest oddity here is that we've allowed the Saudis to con us into thinking they are our "friends." Rubbish, pure garbage. They won't even allow any Christian churches built on their "sacred soil," but you have to wonder if they did, would our State Department stand up for American Christians (of any denomination) for teaching the Trinity? Not on your life. But our pin-stripers don't care so long nothing "unusual" happens on their watch.
Thomas believes the next attack won't be a spectacular hijacking 9/11 type of mass murder." It will come in a shopping mall, or a school, or on Wall Street, or possibly all three. It will occur simultaneously in many places and probably kill more than the nearly 3,000 who died in 2001." This is scarier because it hits more people a lot closer to home. But right now, while our president who promised to "jaw jaw" the Saudis into working along with us when he campaigned for the office he's bungled into a near total collapse, acts like Herbert Hoover during the 1932 campaign. "Nothing can be done."
The Saudis don't believe this. And they're proving it by giving us the cooking the frog in the pan treatment when it comes to making sure the price of oil keeps getting jacked up. Gas was less than $2 when Bush took office. It's now higher than $4. Bush says nothing about the Saudis and their arrogant posturing, even when they make gestures at us like Anthony Quinn did to Omar Sharif (during an "Arab Unity Conference" -- what an oxymoron -- in "Lawrence of Arabia.")
What are the Saudis telling us? We're "addicted to oil." That's like a pusher condemning his victim while not complaining about his addiction to squeezing out ever last penny out of the same victim. And we let them.
Mr. Swaggerin' Tough Talker with his "Midland Values" (read higher oil profits) has done absolutley nothing, NOTHING to stop this state sponsored economic terrorism that's only the first phase of what our Wahabi friends running the show in Saudi Arabia have in mind.
Since Iraq's been knocked off the "axis of evil" list, do you suppose it'd be too much for W to replace Saddam's old regime with the one we save him from devouring some 17 years ago?

Ruby, I agree that most Muslims get blamed for many things only a handful of Muslim fanatics have done or plan on doing. On the other hand, what service would we be doing to our Muslim citizens here or innocent Muslims abroad by not saying "enough" and we're going to hold you for trial to prevent more bloodshed? Most of the reports coming out of Gitmo are exaggerated by people with an ax to grind. But make no mistake:these characters are a danger to all of us, including innocen Muslims.

1. how do you know the reports coming out of Gitmo are exaggerated?
2. what about the innocent people who get caught up in the web?
3. what about the foundation of our legal system, ie innocent until proven guilty?

2. In the aftermath of AbuGharib (which I'll admit was a self-inflicted black eye and really whipped up our opposition, and caused many GI's lives and limbs out of retaliation -- I can't imagine a dumber thing for our military to take chances. Believe me, I know our JAG system is by far much superior than anything even in our overly vaunted civilian legal system. I used to have my doubts until I got to know some JAGs and I'm very impressed with the precautions they take. Why wouldn't they be the most cautious to make sure the defendants got the fairest trials possible? The military sure doesn't want them out on a foolish technicality resulting from a careless act, only to have to deal with a former detainee back in a combat situation.
3. That's an age old question. But you'll find more people locked up in our civilian court criminal systems just because they don't have a dime and no clout to even post bail. And some people shouldn't be let out on principle, whether they belong to Osama's boyos or The Medelin Cartel.
