Politics Ramble - www.politicsramble.com/ Politics Has Many Proverbial Forks In The Road

I really ran into a Fork In the Road and I'm taking it. P. 1

By Steven Barrett

Yogi Berra famously quipped, "When you see a fork in the road, take it." Well, that's what I'm doing. Last night while answering a political-religious question on another forum site I belong to, I suddenly, quietly and sadly came to the conclusion that I badly needed to back off. Not to quit writing altogether, but to cut back.

I'm going to share my remarks and conclude with an additional comment from somebody with a much "higher pay grade" when it comes to helping us establish the real priorities in life that matter most.

Obama demonstrated to Warren he was more concerned with nuancing and dancing around a pretty straightforward issue than he was in facing up to the fact that he's got the most pro-abortion voting and politickin' record brought forth by any candidate in American history.

He waxed on about how nobody really wants to get an abortion or takes it lightly. Does he really think his opponents are that stupid to believe they are? Whyi didn't he admit that a lot of girls are scared and easily manipulated into having abortions by overly panicked and embarrassed parents and their "men" looking to avoid an 18 year opportunity to really prove their manhood.

THis campaign is driving me to givng serious thought to simply reducing all my political/religious writing almost to the "Dick and Jane" level for two reasons:

1) Thanks to a very dumbed down electorate, I'm not sure even all the attempts the world to state this as clearly as I or anyone else could on this forum and others, are able to penetrate the vapidity and intellectual flatulence caused by Obama, and what the late Tom Wolfe called, mau-mauers and flack-catchers in the 4th Estate.

2) I'd rather be spending my time building nativity creches and using the left-over pine pieces for scraps to make toys* for parrots and other exotic birds.

I'd be honoring the Lord Who came to us as an infant and I'd be honoring St. Francis, not to mention a higher species of birds than the turkeys we find on the campaign trails.

When I originally wrote those words a few days ago, I was pretty tired and coming to the conclusion that something was terribly off and there just had to be life outside of politics, and this is coming from a political junkie, no less.

Of course, there are things more important than politics, and I'll get to them in Pt. 2.

* The birds offer wonderful companionship for many kinds of people, but I have in mind many people who suffer from loneliness from the death of a spouse, divorce, separation, loss of a parent, sibling or even a good friend. But they can be awfully pesky, demanding and need their own special kind of "birdie veg-out mind relaxing medication." (So do the people they own. Remember, dogs have masters, cats have owners, birds own people.
But people need a break, too. And nothing can provide this less expensively than a well-built bird toy to keep 'em chomping instead of screeching.

As for the political birds, (i.e. turkeys, buzzards, vultures, and dump seagulls? I still reserve the right to use my fork on occasion. No doubt they'll provide many of those.)

I hate to see you go, Steven. It's easy to let politics run you right up a tree, true. Hopefully we at Orble haven't heard the last of you and that you'll be commenting or posting from time to time.

Enjoy the bird business. My parakeet "Hannity" (Colmes died awhile back) sure knows who's boss around here! Birds make great little companions and I'm sure you'll make a lot of birds (and their pet people) very happy with your creations!

Take care of yourself!

S.L., Don't write me off completely! I'm just not able to to keep up with the three-a-day blogging vitamins, so to speak, do them justice and also put in the time I need to put out a quality product. I'll be damned if I put out anything that looks half-baked just to make a product.

Though I have noticed that a stick a day acts like a parrot's version of prozac.

Now ifyou get a new 'keet, ya gotta call him Carville or Bill Donahue of the Catholic league to keep Hannity honest. (After Hannity went after the Human Life League, with white-hot hammer n' tongs, he lost my channel click while we could afford that level. But I've gotta admit that's good juxtapositon for names for companion birds. Only you could've come up with that combo! And I'd have to find a match for a Carville!) No, not a Turkey Buzzard. Maybe a BALD EAGLE. And we both know his wife Mary'd never let him have that kind of distinction!

PS: If Obama has any brains, he'll pick Biden. How badly does Biden want the second spot. Too many funerals for a smart guy like him to waste time spending at.

I think McCain will pick Ridge (or his realtor.) Read pt. 2 and what I think about that kind of an "issue." What hot air!
