I have a question for Ron Howard, Dan Brown and Tom Hanks. What do they have against the Catholic Church?
Seriously, I have more than just one question concerning this whole DaVinci Code campaign of Howard and Brown. But I'm not sure I want to give them more publicity than they deserve.
Maybe the whole project's ready to sink due to debt and this is their way of finding some way to keep it afloat. After all, the Vatican booted them out of the two churches they wanted to film in a year ago. And the reason is pretty innocuous according to Roman diocesan spokesman Monsignor Marco Fibbi. "Angels and Demons," a prequel to the "Da Vinci Code" ... "does not conform to our views."
According to the AP, the diocesan churches are "... Santa Maria del Popolo and Santa Maria della Vittoria, two architectural jewels in the heart of Rome that include paintings by Caravaggio, sculptures by Bernini and a chapel designed by Raphael."
Msgr. Fibbi offered his comments to "TV Sorrisi e Canzoni," an Italian television magazine show similar to our "Entertainment Tonite."

"I't's a film that treats religious issues in a way that contrasts with common religious sentiment," Fibbi told The Associated Press in a telephone interview. "We would be helping them create a work that might well be beautiful but that does not conform to our views.'"
